Chief Technology Officer

Wenbin Tan, PhD

Dr. Tan has several decades of professional experience in biomedical research from molecular biology, neuroscience, cell biology, to neurovascular biology.

Dr. Tan is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at the School of Medicine Columbia, and affiliated with the Cardiovascular Research Center and the Department of Bioengineering, at University of South Carolina.

Dr. Tan’s research encompasses various research topics in biochemistry and molecular biology, neurophysiology and neurobiology on rhythmic neurons in the brainstem for neuronal control of breathing, to congenital vascular malformations as well as vascular biology, exosomal biology, and stem cell biology. Dr. Tan is an expert in biotechnologies in these field, and specifically more recently in disease-derived iPSCs and iPSC-induced vascular cells and organoids as clinically relevant models to understand the fundamental mechanisms of congenital vascular malformations and endothelial dysfunctions.

Dr. Tan is the brain and engine of Helical Sphere’s research and biotechnology development team.
